Procurement Foundation Workshop: How to Buy
Wednesday, 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM Nov 15th 2017
The How to Buy workshop is the Foundation Course in the Procurement Training Calendar and is essential and now mandatory for all staff members who have any involvement in the buying goods / services / works. From time to time – do you have a need to:-
- Finding the right supplier
- Get pricing
- Compare the different offers from suppliers
- Decide on whom to purchase from and communicate to the unsuccessful suppliers
- Place POs / Receive goods / authorise invoices for payment
- Manage the supplier relationship (if applicable)
This course explains the basic principles of purchasing / procurement, covering such topics as (but not limited to)
- Knowing how much I have to spend
- Be aware of my obligations with University funds
- Step by Step Guide to using the right policy
- What is a Sole Source and when does it apply
- How do I setup a New Supplier
- Aggregation – spending more with the same supplier – implications
- Document Storage obligations
- PAC – recent experience
- Why is the C&AG annual Procurement Audit so important to us
Participants are also taken on a guided tour of the Procurement & Contracts Office website where they can see the process information, guidance and template documents and details of the centralized contracts currently available. The site also includes a Reference Section, where more detail on the processes is included.
